60 Seconds with Phil The Python Cowell

1. Ferrari or Porsche?

Whichever I could get in and out of.

2. Beefy Botham or Freddie Flintoff?

Botham. I don't think Freddie has achieved half of what Beefy did.

3. Lord's or Twickers?

Twickers without a second thought

4. Best ever Sporting Moment?

Being at the Rugby World Cup Final in Sydney, if Jonny had given it a bit more I could have caught the winning kick, well probably not.

5. Lager or Bitter?

Bitter, but I'm not going to grow a beard and start drinking real ale like Issac.

6. Kylie Mynogue or Katherine Jenkins?

Katherine Jenkins, how could you like anything Australian?

7. Pointing, Lara or Tendulkar?

We could probably give any of them the odd game in the seconds.

      8. Are you a Bowler, Batter, Keeper, All Rounder or Fielder?

          Specialist third man

      9. Which Professional sport would you have enjoyed playing most?

Darts. The training regime appeals to me.

      10. Favourite local Cricket Ground?

It's got to be Cound, closely followed by Worfield.

      11. Have you ever considered dieting?

I'm going to diet when Mike Tomkins has elocution lessons. I don't see it happening in the near future.

       12. Why are you a member at Cound CC?

I've had 20+ great years at Cound, made a lot of friends and enjoyed

my cricket  win, loose or draw. It's time to give something back.

 60 Seconds with Greg Lawrence

     1.   Ferrari or Porsche

I have not worked for either of them yet, but let's be honest here its just a matter of time!!!

  1. Beefy Botham or Freddie Flintoff?

Difficult question, I think they are both superb role models for the modern day athlete; Play hard and they get straight on the beer!!

But I had to choose would have Sir Beefy, watching him destroy the convicts in 1981 is one of my most endearing memory of my childhood

  1. Lord's or Twickers?

Do they play cricket at this Twickers place???

  1. Best ever Sporting Moment?

Watching: being at Silverstone when Nigel Mansell won the World Championship and mobbing his car at Club Corner whilst he was on his victory lap.

Playing: lots of great team moments over the years but the most ironic would be getting the final wicket against Wroxeter in the 52nd over to win the game with two balls to spare AND Python giving the batsmen Dan Harris out LBW!!!

  1. Lager or Bitter?

Guiness or lager (as long I can get the pass!!!)

  1. Kylie Mynogue or Katherine Jenkins?

Tough choice Mr Chairman, both with assets that are exceptional, but if I honest it would have to be Jenkins, (obviously for her singing voice)

  1. Pointing, Lara or Tendulkar?

Are they available??? Quite sure Matthew would be happy with any of them.

Personally, I would take the little Maestro for the reason he hasn't lost three Ashes Series in Pointing's case and IS a team player unlike Lara,

     8. Are you a Bowler, Batter, Keeper or All Rounder?

Never a keeper, a position only to filled by people who 'move their feet'

Occasional batsmen and mid week bowler and as time has gone I am more round than all rounder

  1. Which Professional sport would you have enjoyed playing most?

Beach Volleyball

    10. Favourite local Cricket Ground?

Apart from our little piece of heaven, the only local ground I quite like would be Worfield

    11.  Have you ever considered dieting?

 Tried it - didn't take

    12. Four people you would invite to Dinner?

John Lennon (without Yoko), Peter Sellers, Sir Ian Botham and Spike Milligan.

    13. Have you ever fibbed about your Cricket performance?

As a shy retiring bloke I can't every remember ever discussing my cricket performance let alone fibbing, and Kenny has all the bloody stats anyway!!!

  1. Why are you a member at Cound CC?

It is all the fault of Graham Trow - blame him

On a serious note however, I think our club means so much to so many people who, over the years have dedicated so much of their time and effort into producing one of the loveliest grounds and who foster the culture we have, I am extremely proud to be a part of that.

 60 Seconds with Paul Elton

         1.  Ferrari or Porsche?

Quite happy with my Kangoo van but if pushed Ferrari.

             2. Lord's or Twickers?

Lords - always support Wales in rugby anyway.

             3. Best ever Sporting Moment?

Mmm tricky - if I could relive one again it would be a round of golf

            with  my old chap.

             4. Lager or Bitter? C'mon!

              Pint of Madonna obviously!

              5. Kylie Mynogue or Katherine Jenkins?

              Nigella Lawson

              6. Pointing, Lara or Tendulkar?

When he is on song I love to watch Ponting.

              7. Are you a Bowler, Batter, Keeper or All Rounder?

I am just average at all of them - but I do have a useful death ball

beamer which I must try out again if the skipper ever chucks me the

               ball

               8. Which Professional sport would you have enjoyed playing most?

              Golf, longer career.

              9. Favourite local Cricket Ground?

Aside from CCC, Worfield was lovely a few years ago - I go for the

picturesque venues so Hinstock and Whitchurch's second pitch don't

               make the list!

              10. Have you ever considered dieting?

After a few pints when I get home I quite like a couple of raw spuds

before I   turn in - is that bad?

               11. Four people you would invite to Dinner?

Other than friends - Tom Watson, Bruce Springsteen, Jack Nicholson

and Nigella Lawson. No, scrap the Boss - I'd have no chance with

                Nigella if he was there!

                12. Have you ever fibbed about your Cricket performance?

                 No

                 13.  Why are you a member at Cound CC?

Who else would have me? No, a cliché maybe but great bunch no

a…holes. And walking past the horses and the chickens on a warm

Saturday afternoon towards the ground for a game of cricket is a

                   lovely feeling don't you think?

     60 Seconds with Alan Campbell

                 1. Ferrari or Porsche

                 2. Beefy Botham or Freddie Flintoff?

                 4. Best ever Sporting Moment?

                  5. Lager or Bitter?

Real Ale, Lager if its out of a can

                  6. Kylie Mynogue or Katherine Jenkins?

Both please at the same time. ( fantasy or wot )

                  7. Pointing, Lara or Tendulkar?

Tendulkar closely followed by Lara, Ponting is a moaner.

                   8. Are you a Bowler, Batter, Keeper or All Rounder?

I have done all 4, BADLY most would say though.

                  9. Which Professional sport would you have enjoyed playing most?

Football that's where the money is.

                  10. Favourite local Cricket Ground?

                    Cound of course. Also Worfield.

                  11. Have you ever considered dieting?

What are you trying to say about me.

                  12. Four people you would invite to Dinner?

Kylie, Katherine, Nigella to cook and me.

                   13. Have you ever fibbed about your Cricket performance?

Every night in the pub after a game

                  14. Why are you a member at Cound CC?

    2. Beefy Botham or Freddie Flintoff?

    3. Lord's or Twickers?

Never been to either, but got to be Lords home of the great game.

    4. Best ever Sporting Moment?

123 for Cound 2's at Welshpool. Ask Phil Cheshire he doesn't stop talking about it.

    5. Lager or Bitter?

Lager in summer?? Bitter in the winter please Jim. Cheers.

    6. Kylie Mynogue or Katherine Jenkins?

Both thanx. Better give the Missus a mention as well.

    7. Pointing, Lara or Tendulkar?

Who's Pointing? For me it's Tendulkar. All three are Brill but little man is technically far better than Lara or the other bloke.

    8. Are you a Bowler, Batter, Keeper or All Rounder?

Yes and Mid-Week Skipper. I will get as many positions as Mr Trow one day.

    9. Which Professional sport would you have enjoyed playing most?

Football 1st but drank too much (Besty) Cricket 2nd. Not quite good enough. No appetite at tea time.

    10. Favourite local Cricket Ground?

One nearest to a local Ale House for drinks after 20 over's of course Gents.

No! I am the perfect weight for a fat B-----d (The Doctor told me)

Zimbers, Future, Tom Pugh and Joe Williams. They all need Beefin-Up with good steak from our Butcher's.

    13. Have you ever fibbed about your Cricket performance?

No. Umm Yes, but when Cliffy and Azza av ad a few who noes any different?

    14. Why are you a member at Cound CC?

No one else wants me. Played for Harcourt, MEB, Shawbury and Hanwood but no longer going or packed up. This was the next available choice, should have done it 15 years ago!!

                                60 Seconds with Jim Cadwallader

    1. Ferrari or Porsche?

    Ferrari if your offering

    2. Beefy Botham or Freddie Flintoff?

Beefy as he was better with the women

       3. Lord's or Twickers?

                  Lords followed by Anfield

           4. Best ever Sporting Moment?

It is a little know fact but I take full credit for England  winning

the  ashes   in  2005 as  I boosted KP's confidence  by  giving  him

the Man of the match award when Shropshire played Hampshire at

          Whitchurch in the C&G trophy.

            5. Lager or Bitter?

Lager although I struggle with both

            6. Kylie Mynogue or Katherine Jenkins?

Katherine Jenkins I have  paid 50 quid five or six times to see her

sing before  some egg chasing  at  Cardiff   some  how  the   rugby

always  seemed a  little disappointing afterwards

            7. Pointing, Lara or Tendulkar?

If you wanted one to bat for your life it would be Pointing

            8. Are you a Bowler, Batter, Keeper or All Rounder?

If you had asked me two years  ago then  it  would have been  a

Batter but now  I would have to say a bowler who still thinks he

          can bat

            9. Which Professional sport would you have enjoyed playing most?

Football the thought of fielding  for  two  days  solid  gives  me

           nightmares

                    10. Favourite local Cricket Ground?

Other than Cound or Shelton,  Probably Worfield

         11. Have you ever considered dieting?

           Mmmmmmmmmm let me think !!!!!!!!!

            12. Four people you would invite to dinner?

Sarah Harding ( blonde bird from girls aloud )  Katherine  Jenkins

( blonde  bird  who   sings   at   rugby )   Angelina Jollie   ( In Tomb

Raider Gear )  and   Mike  Tomkins ( so when the wine sets in I look

the better option, although  imagine if that back fired !!!!!! )

                 13. Have you ever fibbed about your cricket performance?

I don't think so although memory  does  distort  things over  time,

Greggs  catch  against Allscot is already close to the first account

of unaided human flight so think how  that one will be  recalled  by

the middle of the indoor season

                   14.  Why are you a member at Cound CC?

Beautiful ground  and  great  lads.  A  club  going  about  things  the

right way. But can we get the old tea ladies back please.

    60 Seconds with Jamie Dowley
    1. Ferrari or Porsche?

Porsche,  but if I had the money Id get an Aston Martin Vanquish.

    1. Beefy Botham or Freddie Flintoff?

Beefy as a cricketer, but Flintoff as a bloke.

    1. Lord's or Twickers?

I love Lords its the best cricket ground in the world, .not too bothered about the egg shaped game, I've never been to a rugby match in my life.

    1. Best ever Sporting Moment?

From a team perspective, probably being an ever present and Vice captain in the Acton Reynald side that won Division 2 in 2000, which was a very strong league containing the likes of Welshpool, Bomere Heath, Quatt and Cound!.  Personally when I scored my 1st 50 for Reynald, come to think of it it was my only 50!

    1. Lager or Bitter?

I quite like a lager and lime, and if  I'm in the mood a pint of real ale can go        down well, but I'm not a  connoisseur like a certain Secretary.

          6. Kylie Mynogue or Katherine Jenkins?

They are both very attractive but I Prefer Charlotte Church as she's a fair sort.

    1. Pointing, Lara or Tendulkar?

Lara at his best is better than Ponting and Tendulkar at their best so Id say him, although in terms of natural talent Mark Ramprakash has been their equal and he's my favourite cricketer

    1. Are you a Bowler, Batter, Keeper or All Rounder?

Well I started out as a medium pacer and I was crap, took up leg spin and I was crap, off spin wasn't too bad, but took the gloves in a Sunday game at Acton Reynald and was in the 1sts the following week, so I've stuck at that.  As for my batting.  I guess I will never be a Brendan McCullum!

    1. Which Professional sport would you have enjoyed playing most?

Either one of the two national sports  or table tennis.

    1.  Favourite local Cricket Ground?

I've always had a soft spot for Fenns Bank and Coton Hall  both similar grounds, Least favourite is Pontesbury.

    1. Have you ever considered dieting?

Not yet as I feel I've a few stone in hand on some I could mention (they play in the 1sts)

    1.  Four people you would invite to dinner?

The best Prime Minister we've had Margaret Thatcher, the best comedian I've seen Bernard Manning.  I always loved listening to Fred Trueman and mmm let me think someone who will add to the debate, Keith Yapp?  On second thoughts I will say my girlfriend Clare as she may read this and she's a great cook.

    1.  Have you ever fibbed about your cricket performance?

I'ts amazing how much better a 15 sounds than say an 8 or 9.  I will leave it at that.

    1.  Why are you a member at Cound CC?

I have known quite a few of the lads from playing for Grasshoppers and it seemed a natural move. Wish I had joined years ago, as it's a well run friendly club, and the ground and wicket are a credit to the club.

                                           60 Seconds with Neil Marsh

    1.       Ferrari or Porsche?

They're Italian and German, so neither. How's about a Trabant? No good I suppose for fitting the kit bag in?  Money permitting, it would have to be a Bentley Continental. If I had to go for one of the two mentioned, it would have to be the Lola version of the Ferrari! :-)

    2.     Beefy Botham or Freddie Flintoff?

I'll have to go to for Sir Ian.  At least he was renowned for handling his beer!

    3.     Lord's or Twickers?

Never been a "rugger" man but I respect the game. Therefore, a nice summer's afternoon, in the Lord's Taverner's bar, watching the Aussies get skittled out for 80!

    4.     Best ever Sporting Moment?

On field - Winning the Evening League with the Hoppers in 1989 and bowling out Mo Fiaz of the Telford Muslims second ball, in 1995 I think. He'd hit two centuries the previous 2 weeks and we went on to win the game and gain promotion.

Off the field - got to be 1966

    5.     Lager or Bitter?

Lager I'm afraid. I am partial to red wine now and again. It's good for the heart and apparently fights off the common cold.

    6.     Kylie Minogue or Katherine Jenkins?

Got to be the Aussie I'm afraid.  Fantastic a*se!

    7.     Pointing, Lara or Tendulkar?

Got to be the Aussie I'm afraid. Punter would have to let Trowy keep the opening spot of course. Goes without saying.

    8.     Are you a Bowler, Batter, Keeper or All Rounder?

My cricketing qualities, or lack of them, have been described in far less generic terms - chucker, slogger etc. However I am reputed to be an expert tea money and fixture fee collector, but not this year!!

    9.     Which Professional sport would you have enjoyed playing most?

Top-fuel dragster pilot, formula one Super bike rider? Second thoughts, I wish to live to a reasonable age, so I'll go for a successful, now don't laugh, "talented" cricketing all-rounder, at a top County.

    10.  Favourite local Cricket Ground?

Has to be Cound CC, without a doubt.  Other local favourites are Montgomery and Worfield. By the way did everyone realise that Hinstock has an anagram: SHIT KNOC.

    11.   Have you ever considered dieting?

I'm lucky in that respect, at least up to now!  I think a few members at Cound CC need to think hard about this one. A new regime is to be introduced to promote dieting in 2008 - NO ALCOHOL, AND DEFINITELY NO SATURDAY NIGHT MUNCHIES AT THE CURRY HOUSE

    12.  Four people you would invite to dinner?

Lee Evans for humour, Stephen Hawking for intelligence, Shania Twain for beauty, and Trowy for honesty, sincerity and leadership!

    13.  Have you ever fibbed about your cricket performance?

Never really been inclined to fib about much generally, particularly cricket. Don't like people who talk a good game off the field and who back up their "spiel" with bull$hit. Respect people who go out there and do the business with modesty.

    14.  Why are you a member at Cound CC?

The ground is one of the best in the County, if not the best, and the club, I think, has a great future.  Socially the club is second to none - win handsomely or get absolutely walloped, we still go out for many a beer. There are some great characters at the club as well as some up and coming youngsters. The club has a good plan for the future and 2008 will hopefully be a successful one for the club.

60 Seconds with Adam Adders Williams

    1. Ferrari or Porsche

You can't beat a car that gains value when a pissed up cricket mate drops kebab meat and chips on the back seat at 3am Sunday morning, but if I had the cash it'd be a Porsche!

    2. Beefy Botham or Freddie Flintoff?

Freddie's peddalo exploits win him my vote!

    3. Lord's or Twickers?

    Lords everytime.

    4. Best ever Sporting Moment?

Winning the county cup football final v SCAT in 1998, to then lose to the eventual winners 1-0 in the first round of the nationals. Liverpool's comeback in the 2005 champion's league final.

    5. Lager or Bitter?

Lager or a cool pint of cider in the summer after cricket.

    6. Kylie Mynogue or Katherine Jenkins?

    Kylie, or preferably her sister!

    7. Pointing, Lara or Tendulkar?

As much as I hate to say it, Ponting, for his 58-60 average in his test career plus he's a better captain.

    8.  Are you a Bowler, Batter, Keeper or All Rounder?

I'd like to say all rounder but my captain would probably say differently! If I didn't bowl I'd love to keep wicket.

9.Which Professional sport would you have enjoyed playing most?

Football for the money, fishing for the pleasure!

    10. Favourite local Cricket Ground?

    Cound, closely followed by Worfield.

    11. Have you ever considered dieting?

Yes, and a few team members need to follow suit, namely Greg!!

    12. Four people you would invite to dinner?

Bumble and Sid Waddell, as they have me in stitches with their commentary. Jamie Carrager and Jennifer Ellison as you can't beat a cheeky scouser!

    13. Have you ever fibbed about your cricket performance?

No can't stand liars and hate non walking cheats!

    14. Why are you a member at Cound CC?

Lovely ground, great members and we've got the potential to win the league in 2008!

60 Seconds with Brian The Bins Hunt

    1. Ferrari or Porsche?

Neither. The best car, or rather the favourite car, I owned was a Triumph Spitfire and I would still like to have one as a second car.
    2. Beefy Botham or Freddie Flintoff?

Beefy, I think.  He apparently hasn't picked up a bat since he retired so a season or two at Cound to finish would be good.
    3. Lord's or Twickers?

Lord's.  The only time I've been to Twickers, I was with Python and had my nose all bandaged up  - a football injury!!
    4. Best ever Sporting Moment?

I once took seven catches behind the wicket playing for Studland boys against Knowle House Hotel.  I was twelve at the time and perhaps peaked a little too early in my career.

     5. Lager or Bitter?

               What's Lager?

    6. Kylie Mynogue or Katherine Jenkins

I didn't know either was available but I might have to ask Carol!!
    7. Ponting, Lara or Tendulkar?

Any of them, if they are available next season.

8.Are you a Bowler, Batter, Keeper or All Rounder?

None of these really, but I'm quite good at writing minutes,

discussing crop prices, marriage guidance and ornithological advice

                 during matches.

    9. Which Professional sport would you have enjoyed playing most?

Football but Southampton didn't offer me a contract.
    10. Favourite local Cricket Ground?

    Cound, Montgomery, Willey and Worfield

    11. Have you ever considered dieting?

Not seriously and I don't feel under too much peer pressure at Cound

    12.  Four people you would invite to dinner?

Michael Palin, David Attenborough, Michael Bentine, Brian Johnston

not all still with us, sadly.

     13. Have you ever fibbed about your cricket performance?

Yes, most Sunday's in the pub during the summer

               14. Why are you a member at Cound CC?

When I moved to Shropshire from the sunny south during the 1970's, there was a strong Shirehall connection at Cound and I was encouraged to join by existing members - John Cartwright and Cyril Hawkins.  Now I'm retired I can't decide where to move to so I'm still here.  Seriously, I would not wish to play my cricket anywhere else.

60 seconds with Kevin The Rapper Hamer

    1. Ferrari or Porshe

Matt and Python can't get in either so I'll have both.

           2. Beefy Botham or Freddie Flintoff?

On a serious note, I don't believe beefy got injured every five minutes so  I  would  pick him to open the  batting  with  Trowy and come on first change after I had got  the  first  couple  of  wickets.

    3. Lord's or Twickers?

              Lord's of course!!

Twickenham is far too narrow square of the  wicket  and  the grass is             a tad long (Imagine Tonker having to look after that!)

    4. Best ever Sporting Moment?

On Pitch - Top Score of 55N.O. ( In a proper game as well!!    Before  you all start !)   Off  Pitch - Liverpool's  comeback  in  2005  Champions  League  Final ( Was just immense )

    5. Lager or Bitter?

            Lager Lout!

              6.  Kylie Mynogue or Katherine Jenkins?

After 18-20 years playing in the Shropshire Premier League I wanted to  play at as  many different  grounds  as  possible.

To  pass  on   my   experience  and  beliefs each week to  21 other  like  minded people  who  are  in  the  care of 2 men in white coats, I need to say no  more. To answer  the question,

after  10  clubs  refused   to   pay £100   per  week I finally  accepted Cound's kind offer. (Thanks Ray)
