 CODE OF CONDUCT FOR CLUB MEMBERS AND GUESTS

All Members and Guests of Cound Cricket Club will:

·   Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person within the context of Cricket.

·   Treat everyone equally and not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, disability, race,  ethnic origin, nationality, colour, parental or marital status, religious belief, class or social background, sexual preference or political belief.

·   Not condone, or allow to go unchallenged, any form of discrimination if witnessed.

·   Display high standards of behaviour.

·   Promote the positive aspects of Cricket e.g. fair play.

·   Encourage all participants to learn the Laws and rules and play within them, respecting the decisions of match officials.

·   Actively discourage unfair play, rule violations and arguing with match officials.

·   Recognise good performance not just match results.

·   Place the well-being and safety of Young People above the development of performance.

·   Ensure that activities are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of the individual.

·   Respect Young People's opinions when making decisions about their participation in Cricket.

·   Not smoke, drink or use banned substances whilst actively working with Young People in the Club.

·   Not provide Young People with alcohol when they are under the care of the Club.

·   Follow ECB guidelines set out in the "Safe Hands - Cricket's Policy for Safeguarding Children' and any other relevant guidelines issued.

·   Report any concerns in relation to a Young Person, following reporting procedures laid down by the ECB.

·   In addition to the above, all Club Officers and Appointed Volunteers will:

·   Hold relevant qualifications and be covered by appropriate insurance.

·   Always work in an open environment (i.e. avoid private or unobserved situations and encourage an open environment).

·   Inform Players and Parents of the requirements of Cricket.

·   Know and understand the ECB's 'Safe Hands - Cricket's Policy for Safeguarding Children'.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR CLUB OFFICIALS & VOLUNTEERS

The essence of good ethical conduct and practice is summarised below. All volunteers must:

·        Consider the well-being and safety of participants before the development of performance.

·        Develop an appropriate working relationship with performers, based on mutual trust and respect.

·        Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part.

·        Promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play)

·        Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance.

·        Follow all guidelines laid down by the national governing body and the club.

·        Hold the appropriate, valid qualifications and insurance cover.

·        Never exert undue influence over performers to obtain personal benefit or reward.

·        Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibitive substances.

 
 CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS/CARER

* Encourage your child to learn the rules and spirit of cricket and play within them

* Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.

* Do not shout comments or instructions from the boundaryHelp your child to recognise good performance, not just results.

* Never force your child to take part in sport.

* Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performances of all.Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.

* Publicly accept officials' judgements.

* Support your child's involvement and help them to enjoy their sport.

* Use correct and proper language at all times.

* Encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own performance and behaviour.

 
 CODE OF CONDUCT FOR JUNIOR MEMBERS

Cound Cricket Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members. The club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. Therefore, members are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club withCound Cricket Club.

* As a member of CoundCricket Clubyou are expected to abide by the following junior code of conduct

* All members must play within the rules and spirit of cricket and respect officials and their decisions.

* All members must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

* Members should keep to agreed timings for training and competitions or inform their coach or team manager if they are going to be late.

* Members must wear suitable kit for training and match sessions, as agreed with the coach/team manager.

* Members must pay any fees for training or events promptly.

Junior members are not allowed to smoke on club premises or whilst representing the club at competitions.

* Junior members are not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on the club premises or whilst representing the club.


CHILD PROTECTION POLICY STATEMENT

·        Cound Cricket Club aims to create an enjoyable environment for all juniors who wish to take part in cricket, other sport and social activities at the club.

·        The club emphasises that young people have the right to be safe, secure and free from threat.

·        The club acknowledges that young people have the right to be treated with respect and for their concerns to be listened to and acted upon.

·        The club will ensure that junior members have specific programmes and facilities designated for them, with adequate supervision.

·        The club has procedures in place to help any young person who requests help and support on a confidential basis, in issues relating to child protection.

·        The club will ensure that any members or volunteers working or playing with young people are aware of and apply the clubs' code of conduct for those working with children in cricket and have completed and signed the self declaration form relating to child protection or have undergone a full check by the Criminal Records Bureau.

The club has a Child Protection Officer who is specifically responsible for young people.
